Employer Satisfaction Survey

Whitireia and WelTec gratefully acknowledge the ongoing involvement of our industry partners and graduates’ employers who participated in this survey. Your involvement helps us understand how well we are preparing our students for contributing to your industries and what we can do to maintain the currency and relevance of their skills and knowledge as new graduates.

 

This ongoing engagement helps us give life to our Vision:

During February 2019 we received feedback from 114 employers associated with WelTec qualifications and 67 associated with Whitireia qualifications.

For WelTec, employers’ feedback indicated the following skills were highly desirable for graduates to have developed during their studies:

  • Communication skills – strongly desirable
  • Interpersonal / people / ‘soft’ skills
  • Gaining specific work-related skills

 

Feedback indicated ways WelTec could assist student development through:

  • Accessing up to date technologies and techniques
  • Invitations to people in the industry to visit, guest lecturing or other industry staff to student involvement within the institutions
  • Making students aware of what to expect in/from jobs.

 

For Whitireia, employers’ feedback indicated the following skills were highly desirable for graduates to have developed during their studies:

  • Communication skills
  • Motivation, initiative, confidence and ability to learn
  • Flexibility

 

Feedback also indicated a willingness to assist student development through:

  • Enhanced access to work placement / hands-on experience
  • Accessing up to date technologies and techniques
  • Invitations to people in the industry to visit, guest lecturing or other industry staff to student involvement within the institutions.
