Justice of the Peace
Justices of the Peace carry out a multitude of functions in the administration of documentation and justice in New Zealand. Some of the most common of these functions include:
- Witnessing signatures on documents
- Certifying copies of documents, including cellphone texts and computer displayed results.
- Completing affidavits. This is a document that is sworn on oath or affirmed and is normally used in a legal proceeding.
- Completing a declaration. This may be a statutory declaration made under the Oaths and Declarations Act 1957 or some other statute which provides for this to be done.
Justices of the Peace at WelTec
WelTec is fortunate to have a staff member, Cyril Peter, as a Justice of the Peace based at the Petone Campus
Should students come across any document that specifically requires the signature of a JP, or need assistance with any of the above functions, they are welcome to contact Cyril.
When making an email appointment, please clearly state what it is you need, so that he can provide the necessary stamps, material, exhibit notes etc. Please also provide Cyril with a contact number
