Dr Anthony Allsobrook
Senior Academic Staff Member
Anthony lectures on the Bachelor of Information Technology degree in computer programming and mathematics. In previous years he has lectured in most areas of chemistry and also in physics and astronomy.
Qualifications:
Anthony holds B.Sc.(Hons) and Ph.D. degrees from Rhodes University in South Africa.

Ian Armstrong

Ian is a relatively new arrival to the WelTec IT teaching team. He tutors in the areas of desktop support and networking. He began down this path with Telcom (NZ) Ltd in the fields of electronics and telecommunications. In the 1990's he deployed Internet technologies and established an ISP. Ian currently teaches on the Bachelor of IT, Certificate in Desktop Support, Diploma in Computer Servicing, and Certificate in Network Administration programmes.
Qualifications:
New Zealand Certificate in Engineering (Telecom), Bachelor of Applied Information Systems Degree and Masters of Communication from Victoria University of Wellington.

Paul Bryant

Paul has been at WelTec since July 2001. He is the curriculum lead for the information assurance and security programmes and courses. He lectures on information security, digital forensic, and networking-related subjects on the degree and the graduate diploma programmes.
Qualifications:
He holds a B.Soc.Sc (UCT) and is a M.InfoSysSec (CSU) graduand. He has an assortment of GIAC certifications (GSEC, GCFE, GCFA, GREM and GCIH) and is a CCNP and academy instructor at Weltec's Cisco Networking Academy. He also certified as a CISA (ISACA) and CISSP (ISC2).

Todd Cochrane

Todd teaches a range of topics in our Bachelors, Diploma and Cybertechnology programmes including client-side and server-side scripting (ASP JavaScript), Ecommerce Website Design (DB), Human Computer Interaction, Operating Systems, Software Engineering, Software Quality Assurance, Prototyping, Programming Practice (Visual Basic). He is a polyglot programmer, writing software in a number of imperative/procedural languages (C/C++,Delphi, Visual Basic, JavaScript, Java, Flash ActionScript) as well as being able to produce code in functional (RUFL and Hope+C) and declarative languages (Prolog). Current research is focused by the development and extension of a visual programming language. Todd spent a number of years as a research programmer, tutor and lecturer. He has undertaken commercial work as well as curriculum and course development.

Andrew Eales
Senior Academic Staff Member
Andrew teaches courses in object-oriented analysis and design,and object-oriented programming. Andrew has university lecturing experience in music theory, music analysis and orchestration. He has also worked as a clarinettist in several professional symphony orchestras. His research interests include object-oriented software design and computer music. Research areas within computer music include spatial sound, algorithmic composition and machine representations of music notation.
Qualifications:
M.Mus degree in music composition, an M.Sc degree in computer science, and has received various academic awards for his creative work and research.

Jeff Echano
(Allied Part-time Staff Member)
Jeff is the IT technician for the School of IT specialist labs in B Block. Jeff also has sole charge of IT systems in a distribution and manufacturing company, managing six sites in major cities throughout New Zealand.

Mariki Farrell
Communications Tutor
Mariki teaches our communications courses in the degree, diploma and software engineering programmes.

John Gould
IT Tutor
After starting as an airport technician with Civil Aviation on leaving school, John completed RTC and NZCE quaifications while working on aviation calibration systems, navaids, radar, radio and telegraphy. From there a BSc and a job at what is now Opus Central Laboratories as Instrumentation Scientist working on engineering research and development projects. These comprised managing, designing, building, testing and installing electronics and software for instrumentation ranging from Clyde Dam to Wairakei Geothermal to underwater oil pipelines. This was followed by a eight year period teaching Software Engineering at CIT and then a further six years developing commercial embedded systems back in industry.
John has been teaching on the Software Engineering, Information Assurance and Security and Mechatronics programmes at WelTec since 2006. His main areas of interest are embedded systems, software engineering, electronics and mechatronics.
