Launch your career into cyberspace with studies in web technologies. Learn how to design, create and maintain a wide range of complex website technologies and applications.
Completion of Year One of the Bachelor of IT or an equivalent academic qualification or relevant work experience in the IT industry.
If you are 20 years or older at the time you start your studies, you are entitled to apply to WelTec under special admission criteria.
If English is your second language, a minimum IELTS (Academic) score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5, is required.
This programme comprises of 45 compulsory credits and 15 elective credits.
IT5176 Windows Server 2008 Web Media (Compulsory)
On completion of this course you will be able to develop web media with an applied use of information architecture principles. Students will learn to: apply principles of information architecture analysis in the development of web sites and will develop a thorough knowledge of mark up languages and web-related techniques.
IT6261 E Commerce Web Application Development (Compulsory)
On completion of this course you will have developed a fundamental knowledge of, and skills in Electronic (E) Commerce Web Application construction. Students will learn to: apply business theory to identify and distinguish E Commerce, create databases supporting E Commerce and design and implement an E-Commerce website using Server-side and Client-side components.
IT6262 Web Site Scripting Foundation (Compulsory)
On completion of this course you will have an applied understanding of scripting for web site construction. Students will learn to: solve simple programming tasks through logic methods, problem decomposition and translation in web scripting languages, write scripted programs to solve commercial processing problems and will have gained a thorough knowledge of web scripting languages and their practical application.

IT6276 Web Technology Integration (Elective)
On completion of this course you will developed knowledge and skills in web technology including the integrative development of applications for social networking, the human interface, and production systems. Students will learn how to develop applications by integrating web technologies, for social networking, human interface and production systems and will have gained a fundamental understanding of Web Technologies.
IT7381 Rich Internet Applications (Elective)
On completion of this course you will have gained an understanding of the issues, principles, techniques and tools associated with the development of Rich Internet Applications (RIA) which provides the features of traditional desktop applications within a web client. Students will gain a thorough knowledge of web and Rich Internet Application architectures including: Web 2.0 characteristics in the development of web based application, AJAX and Rich Internet Application technologies, Rich Internet Application usability and accessibility and Rich Internet Application trends and developments.
