WelTec’s graduate diploma in event management equips you with the tools paramount for success both here and overseas. You will be able to gain hands-on practicum experience in the management of real life events and projects.
Students are able to apply their skills practically in all areas necessary in the planning and implementation of actual major conference, sports and entertainment events. You will find that the skills you develop in professional event and project management will transfer easily to other fields of industry.
WelTec’s experienced and highly qualified tutors will help you to develop your skills or extend your existing knowledge, in the planning, organising and implementing of a variety of major events. You will learn how to conceptualise, develop, plan and organise events and will manage everything from logistics to sponsorship and writing a marketing plan.
Entry requirements
To enter into this programme you will need a Bachelor’s degree in any field except event management, or equivalent practical, professional or educational experience. Basic computer literacy is required for this programme, particularly in word processing and spreadsheets. If you are 20 years of age or older at the time you start your studies, you are able to apply to WelTec under special admission criteria.
If English is your second language a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 Academic (no lower than 6.0 in reading and writing) or equivalent is required.
Programme content
Event Planning
Equips students with contemporary project management and event planning tools used in the preparation of events. Students will learn to demonstrate creative design tools and techniques in their planning processes, as well as utilising project planning and generic management models and software applicable to the event industry.
Event Management
Provides students with knowledge of contemporary project management, event and conference management theory used in the management and evaluation of events to enhance event production and marketing impacts.
Event Logistics
Students will develop an understanding of and an appreciation for the conceptual thinking, strategic planning and tactical implementation of operational systems and processes to achieve event and management performance outcomes.
Event Marketing and Sponsorship
Developed for students to apply current theory and practice in analysing, planning, monitoring, evaluating and controlling marketing and sponsorship efforts.
Practicum
Our programme incorporates an industry practicum as a major component. You will have the opportunity to observe and gain hands-on experience in actual event management. The practicum allows you to observe business practices and integrate both practical and theoretical learning. You will complete a reflective review identifying your findings and recommendations for the organisation.
