The Certificate of Achievement in Science Bridging (Anatomy and Physiology) (Level 2) will prepare you for further study at Level 3 and above in a tertiary institution, in programmes that require knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
An ideal programme for school leavers and those returning to study, you will learn about the systems of the human body and it's various functions. Find out about how the body moves, how it repairs itself and learn about our body's nervous system, cardiovascular system, respiratory and digestive system.
Programme content
- Introduction to Human Anatomy and Physiology
Gain an introduction to human anatomy and physiology. Learn commonly used terms and discover the range of systems within the human body.
- Support, Movement and Covering of the Body
Learn about the structure and function of skin, the skeletal system and the muscular systems.
- Communication Systems of the Body.
Discover how the body communicates with studies in the human body’s nervous system and endocrine system.
- Transport (Blood, Cardio-vascular System)
Get to the heart of the matter - find out about how the heart pumps blood around the body and the different types of blood cells within the cardiovascular system.
- Maintenance of the Body (Respiratory System, Digestive System)
Gain an understanding of how the human body processes oxygen and nutrients, to discover how the respiratory system and digestive system works.
Graduate profile
At the end of the programme you will be able to:
- Graduates will be able to demonstrate knowledge of anatomy and physiology, the systems in the human body, their functions and how they are interrelated at an introductory level.
Programme hours
As a full-time student, you can expect to work 32 – 37 hours/week for four weeks. This is made up of In-class learning (21 hours per week, generally between 9am and 3pm) and Self-directed learning (it is expected that students will complete about approx 20 hours per week).
Entry requirements
Entry into this programme is open. For students who are second language learners a minimum Academic IELTS score of 5.5 with no less than 5.0 in reading and writing is required.
Where will it take me?
This programme is designed to prepare you for further study at Level 3 and above with specific reference to programmes that include learning in anatomy and physiology.
Successful completion of HV4456 Certificate of Achievement in Science Bridging (Anatomy and Physiology) (Level 2) assists, but does not guarantee entry into:
• HV4416 Diploma in Beauty Therapy (Level 5)
• HV4452 Certificate in Exercise Science (Level 5)
• NC5444 National Certificate in Animal Care (Level 2)
