Designed for students who want to combine their technical and creative skills, the Certificate in Pre-Trade Decorating provides students with the ability to gain employment within the painting and decorating industry. This qualification builds on from the Certificate in Pre-Trade Painting.
Programme content
- Workshop health and safety
- Knowledge of timber
- Preparation and hanging wallpapers and friezes
- Appreciation and preparation of colour schemes
- Marbling and graining
- Bleaching and blonding timber and stenciling
Entry requirements
12 NCEA Level 1 credits each in literacy and numeracy or equivalent knowledge/experience.
Applicants 20 years of age or older are welcome to apply.
For applicants who have English as a second language, a minimum IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent is required.
Where will it take me?
Entry to apprenticeship, interior design, colour consultancy, specialist in the painting industry or retail sales.
Upon the completion of the Certificate in Pre-Trade Painting and Certificate in Pre-Trade Decorating you will also complete the Certificate in Interior Décor.
