All students are encouraged to attend the official Welcome - Mihi Whakatau to be held on Monday, 8 July 2013 at 9.00am in the Student Hub, 11 Kensington Avenue, Petone.
Programme Orientation
Please check the orientation timetables below for details of your programme orientation.
Orientation is a compulsory introduction to your programme, and to WelTec. It gives you an opportunity to get your study year sorted and off to a good start. It’s also a great way to meet other students, your tutors and support staff - all before you begin your journey with WelTec. Essential programme information, timetables, and room locations will be given out during your orientation. Depending on the programme you are doing, course materials will be given out and/or measurements for uniforms or overalls will be taken during orientation (eg. knife kits, hairdressing kits, tools, uniforms, overalls, boots etc).
Orientation is your opportunity to:
- Settle in before the start of your course/programme
- Familiarise yourself with the WelTec campus and local area
- Arrange your computer access and logon
- Get your Student ID Card
- Visit the WelTec Libraries and find out what services they offer
- Check out the Learning Commons – find out what support is available to assist you while you are studying
- Find out about Student Services
- Meet WelTec staff
- Make new friends
Sessions for specific student communities
- International Students:
Thursday, 11 July 2013, Student Hub, Petone at 9.00am.
It is compulsory for all new International students from all
programmes to attend.
You must bring your passport to this Orientation.
Preparing for study
Information on seminar sessions will be available soon that will ensure you are well prepared for study. Join the sessions for fun and food, and while you are here, have a tour of the campus.
Our research has shown that students who attend orientation are more successful in their studies than those who don’t. Ensure you are on your pathway to success by attending your Orientation
