WelTec’s Centre for Creative Technologies is a radical approach to structure in a tertiary environment, aimed at delivering the multidisciplinary approach and creativity needed by today’s information technology, creative and engineering industries.
We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to develop and deliver Digital Media to the programme.
The successful candidate will hold a degree in a related field and including specialist areas in animation, digital film and television and/or hold significant industry experience. A masters qualification in preferred, however consideration will include candidate engaged or completing a Masters level.

WelTec (Wellington Institute of Technology) has entered into a long term agreement to lease a new purpose designed and built 280 bed student accommodation facility at 222 Willis Street in Wellington city. This exciting facility will be ready for occupation from January 2014.
WelTec has a partnership agreement with Whitireia Polytechnic and is also a shareholder in Le Cordon Bleu New Zealand. This facility will provide student accommodation services for all three tertiary institutions.
WelTec seeks an experienced student accommodation manager to lead the set-up and management of this facility. As this is a new venture, and these institutions do not currently offer student accommodation services, you will be required to select and implement all the systems and processes needed in running such a facility “from scratch”.
You will need to:
- have a wide range of skills and experience in the disciplines required for this role
- be able to point to previous successes in managing student accommodation
- demonstrate a track record of providing an environment conducive to achieving excellent outcomes for our students
- possess the ability to deliver the financial goals of the operation
- have well-developed inter-personal skills that will ensure you secure commitment from your team members and establish effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Wellington Institute of Technology (WelTec) is the region’s leading institution for the delivery of training in trades and technology. The School delivers programmes at all levels, including trades certificates in the electrical, mechanical and automotive disciplines; diplomas in mechanical, electrical and civil engineering as well as architecture and construction, and, ultimately, our bachelor’s degree in engineering technology.
This broad array of programmes is delivered by highly qualified and dedicated staff at our campus in Petone.
We are now seeking a professional and competent leader to manage the day to day activities within the School of Engineering. They involve considerable staff management responsibility as well as responsibility for the academic quality of the programmes and student success. Excellent management skills are essential.
There are two Associate Head of School positions within the Engineering School. The Associate Head of School (trades) is responsible for all trades programmes in mechanical and automotive engineering. A background of appropriate industry experience, as well as some previous involvement with technical training in a tertiary environment, would be useful.
Ideally, candidates for the Associate Head of School (trades) position will possess qualifications at tertiary level in an engineering discipline and will have leadership and management experience in a mechanical engineering or automotive related industry. Experience in, a tertiary education environment would be desirable, but not obligatory. Most importantly, however, the successful candidate will be able to think strategically in order to position our growing school to meet the needs of our region. The successful applicant will also demonstrate a real enthusiasm for creating an exciting, modern, and innovative, teaching and learning environment which will provide our students with the skills they require to meet the needs of New Zealand’s technology industries in the future.

WelTec (Wellington Institute of Technology) has been a leader in technical and trades education for over 100 years and offers over 200 specialist programmes in Business Management and Administration, Health Services, Hospitality, Travel and Tourism, Construction and Related Trades, Creative Technology, Engineering, Automotive, and Information Technology.
WelTec is looking for someone who is keen to pass on their knowledge and has an enthusiasm for learning and education. Your key responsibilities as a tutor will include, course delivery, research, management of resources relating to the learning processes and working as a member of an academic team. This role will teach on the B. Eng. Tech Degree and New Zealand Diploma of Engineering programmes. This is a fixed term full time position.
A strong customer focus with demonstrated ability to be both flexible and professional will be highly regarded. Strong interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written are required. While a teaching qualification or teaching experience is desirable it is not essential. You will need a minimum of a Bachelor degree qualification in an engineering (structural,, water, electrical, mechatronics, materials), science, or mathematics discipline to obtain this position.
