Learning Commons Resource Centre, Ability Resource Service
WelTec (Wellington Institute of Technology) is a leading provider of tertiary education in the Wellington region.
The Ability Resource Service at WelTec provides a professional and individualised service to students with specific learning needs to ensure access, academic progress and student retention. The service is currently seeking casual Support Staff to be able to deliver a dynamic role that includes:
- In-class Note Taking support
- Exam Support (Reader / Writer, Supervisor)
- Educational support within the learning environment to ensure the student has appropriate access to resources and is meeting course expectations
- Working and building relationships with academic staff and relevant community agencies to create further opportunity for student success
The skills required are:
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to 'think outside of the square'
- A knowledge and understanding of disabilities
- Experience in teaching and/or supporting individuals in a 1-1 capacity
- Proficient computer user
- Preference for an education / health / social service related qualification
The role will require a high standard of initiative, self-motivation, energy and ability to work as part of a team to ensure an exceptional experience for students with disabilities.
The successful candidate must be willing to undergo any further training / professional development that may be required to fulfil the role's expectations and enhance the learning opportunity for the students.

Wellington Institute of Technology (WelTec) seeks a part time Administration Assistant for its international team. You will be joining a team that is responsible for marketing the institution abroad, recruiting international students to WelTec’s campuses and providing pastoral care for students in New Zealand. You will be personally responsible for:
- Providing relevant and timely responses to international inquiries;
- The provision of accurate data entry support for the international team;
- Liaising with WelTec’s offshore representatives;
- Administering the internal finance and clerical functions for the international team;
- Assisting international students once they have arrived in New Zealand.
We are seeking a person with:
- A strong customer-focused approach;
- The ability to manage multiple conflicting demands;
- Excellent self-management;
- The ability to identify improvements to internal processes;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Tertiary Management Position
Dean of Studies, Wellington Trades Academy
Do you want to be part of an exciting and dynamic management team? Wellington Institute of Technology (WelTec) is a leading provider of education in the Wellington region committed to delivering exceptional service to its students.
WelTec has been selected by the Ministry of Education to be the Lead Provider of the Wellington Trades Academy starting in 2011.
Trades Academies aim to get young New Zealanders engaged in education, and equip tomorrow’s workforce with relevant skills by linking with the wider industry training system.
The Wellington Trades Academy will focus on delivering a wide range of trades and technology programmes to secondary students based on partnerships with secondary schools. Students in years 12 to 13, interested in a career in trades or technology, will be studying towards their NCEA, Level 2 as well as a recognized Level 2/3 trades qualification. Students will attend the Trades Academy on a full time basis while retaining links with their secondary school through a “dual enrollment” structure.
WelTec is establishing this exciting new management position within the Faculty of Trades and Technology to lead the Academy and is seeking exceptional individuals who have a positive can-do attitude, proven ability in the area of youth support and development, and a passion for providing excellent customer service.
The appointee to this position will be required to provide leadership of an academic team as well as strong collaborative leadership and management across the organisation. The position will also be responsible for the on-going liaison with regional secondary schools who will be WelTec’s Trades Academy partners.
The Dean of Studies, Wellington Trades Academy, will be responsible for ensuring high quality guidance and support for up to 100 year 12 to 13 students. Applicants will possess recognised teaching qualifications and, ideally, have proven successful experience in a management position, preferably at Secondary School level.
The Dean of Studies will be expected to work collaboratively to maximise and realise opportunities for the effective and efficient delivery of high quality educational programmes that meet the needs of WelTec’s stakeholders.
